He said he would not participate in the activities of the council until he had been properly consulted about the appointment.
According to him, if the governor’s team had contacted him before announcing the appointment, he would have recommended another person for the position rather than accepting it himself.
Garko’s name appeared at number 169 on the list of members of the governor’s campaign council under the entertainment category.

While appreciating Governor Yusuf for considering him worthy of the appointment, Garko said he would continue to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) and work towards its success in the 2027 general elections.
“I appreciate Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for finding me worthy of the appointment. However, I was not consulted before my name was included in the list, and I will not accept the appointment until consulted,” he said.
He added, “I will continue to work assiduously for the success of the APC, but I will not participate in Governor Yusuf’s campaign council.”
Garko, a prominent entertainer in Northern Nigeria, is known for using music to connect with politicians and election campaigns.
