I’m Best Candidate To Dislodge APC, Others In Ekiti – Otunba Fayose

    By Lekan AdeyeyeFebruary 5, 2025
    Otumba Fayose

A GOVERNORSHIP hopeful in the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose has stated that he remains the best candidate to dislodge incumbent Biodun Oyebanji from office.

This is coming just as he carpeted Governor Oyebanji for gross incompetence in the management of the state’s affairs since coming on board three years ago.

In a statement issued by his media office in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, Otunba Fayose stated that despite his elder brother’s support for Oyebanji, he is confident of winning the poll.

“I am using this medium to appeal to members of the PDP in our dear state to remain resolute and in their quest to wrest the state from the control of the rudderless APC regime.

“It is unfortunate that despite the vast and numerous resources available to Ekiti State, it is still an underachiever in all parameters.

“It is a common knowledge to indigenes and non-indigenes alike that apart from the human resources available to Ekiti State, the Oyebanji led government has been unable to tap from it but rather,.

“It (current government) has been using the same resources to patronise the political elites of the state to the detriment of the vast hard working majority who are reeling in misery and want,” he said.

Expressing confidence, Otunba Fayose stated that”From all indications, the people of Ekiti State who are yearning for good governance are already fed and are waiting for the PDP to rescue them.

“They have however expressed their preference not for our party but also the candidature of Otunba Emmanuel Fayose to lead the onslaught.”

Nigerian TAX Reform - Federal Goverment

According to Otunba Fayose, all manners of endorsement of the governor by the elites in Ekiti State, particularly from the former governor Ayodele Fayose will amount to nothing come 2026.

“I can state unequivocally that the next governorship election will be determined by the people and not the elites. Unfortunately, we have the masses but Oyebanji has the elites who he patronize.

“Our state is blessed with eminent personalities, professors, legal luminaries who have brought pride to Ekiti people and the country at large.

“What will eventually play out will be that the people of the state will revolt at the ballot against bad governance. Unfortunately, people like the former governor Ayodele will not be able to save Oyebanji and his crew who would be roundly defeated in their various polling booths,” Fayose said.
