THE International Association Of World Peace Advocates IAWPA has announced that it has notified the Office of the First Lady of its desire to see her grace this year’s International Women’s Day billed to hold in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on March 8th, 2024.
The global peace advocacy group with Special Consultative Status under the Economic and Social Council ECOSOC of the United Nations since 2019 made this disclosure via its International Director of African Affairs Amb. John Metchie.
The statement said the African Directorate has decided to make this year’s event a top notch event that will celebrate th value of not only Nigerian Women but black women in general.
The statement which was made available by newsmen by the association’s International Spokesman Amb Emmanuel Nkweke after a meeting of the IAWPA International Council in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory FCT this Wednesday.
Amb. Metchie also said with the Wife of the President, Her Excellency Sen. Oluremi Tinubu expected to be the Special Guest of Honour at the event will be chaired by Amb. Dr Princess Toyi Kolade with other well meaning Nigerian women expected to grace the event including the wife of the Senate President Mrs Nneoma Akpabio, wife of the First Lady of Rivers State Mrs Valerie Fubara and the Minister of Women Affairs Mrs Ify Uju Kennedy.

Other top dignitaries who will deliver speeches at the event include a Justice of the Federal High Court Amb. Justice Binta Nyanko, Prof. Heoma Nsirim-Worlu Director , Center For Gender , Conflict and Development Studies, University of Port Harcourt, Pastor Ene Helpmate Seconds and Her Excellency Mrs Alanyigi Sylva .
The annual event with the theme “inspire Inclusion” is expected to raise the awareness for inclusion of women in various positions of responsibility.
Ambassador Nkweke said the event will be a gathering of Eminent Peace Ambassadors from across the country and parts of Africa especially with the distinguished presence of His Eminent Amb. Per Stafsen from the Kingdom of Denmark.
He urged policy makers to ensure they attend this year’s event which he promises to be among the best events the association will be holding in the country.
“We are poised to make a big statement with this year’s event especially with the presence of leading women figures in the country”.
