THE Israeli military kills at least 48 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip since dawn, including 37 in Gaza City where a major offensive continues despite threats of sanctions against Israel.
Four more Palestinians have died from acute malnutrition over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from Israel’s forced starvation policy to 435, including 147 children.
Also, an Israeli army spokesperson says Israeli forces are continuing “operations” in Gaza, destroying what it claims are Hamas facilities and forcibly evacuating residents of Gaza City through two corridors.
Gaza City is being relentlessly bombarded, with much of it reduced to rubble, and residents say they are struggling to flee amid constant shelling.
The spokesperson also confirmed that a gunman who crossed from Jordan earlier today killed two Israelis near the King Hussein (Allenby) Bridge before being shot dead.
He added that Israeli warplanes have also begun striking “Hezbollah targets” in southern Lebanon. The attacks come despite a ceasefire agreement signed with Lebanon in November 2024.
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s army says Israel has committed more than 4,500 violations since the cessation of hostilities agreement with Hezbollah went into effect in November after its assault on Lebanon.
In a statement, the military said Israel continues to attack civilians and villages in the south, including more strikes today that have killed and wounded residents, and accused Israel of repeated violations by land, sea, and air.
The army added that Israeli actions, including firing incendiary bombs and demolishing homes, are obstructing its deployment in the south and threaten to derail its plan to fully secure areas south of the Litani River.
During engineering sweeps in southern Lebanon, an army unit found and dismantled a camouflaged Israeli spy device in the Labbouneh area near Tyre.
The army said it is coordinating with UNIFIL and the ceasefire monitoring committee to follow up on the violations.
Israel’s far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has described Gaza as a potential real estate “bonanza”, adding he’s actively engaged in talks with the US on how to divide it up.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 65,141 people and wounded 165,925 since October 2023. Thousands more are believed to be buried under the rubble. A total of 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7 attacks, and about 200 were taken captive.
