SUPER Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has reportedly been the victim of a daring and violent burglary at his residence in the United Kingdom, with attackers allegedly making away with valuables estimated at £500,000.
News Point Nigeria Sport gathered that the Fulham FC star was said to have been confronted by the intruders inside his home, where he was reportedly held at knifepoint during the terrifying incident.
According to emerging reports, the burglars gained access to the property unnoticed before coming face-to-face with Iwobi, creating a tense and frightening situation.
The attackers allegedly held the Nigerian international hostage while they carried out their operation, forcing him to comply as they searched the house for valuables.
Despite the severity of the incident, early indications suggest that neither Iwobi nor any member of his household sustained physical injuries.
Sources familiar with the incident revealed that the burglars ransacked the residence and carted away a significant cache of luxury items.
The stolen items reportedly include high-end designer wristwatches, expensive jewellery, two iPhones, and a MacBook laptop.
In addition, the attackers are said to have taken approximately £200,000 in cash, bringing the estimated total value of the stolen property to around £500,000.
Authorities in the United Kingdom have since launched an investigation into the incident, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.
Security experts say the nature of the break-in suggests a targeted operation, although officials are yet to confirm whether the burglars had prior knowledge of the footballer’s residence.
The incident comes amid a strong campaign for Iwobi, who has been a key figure for Fulham this season.
The 27-year-old midfielder has made 25 appearances, scoring four goals and providing three assists as the London club pushes for a European qualification spot.
