THE Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Jigawa State Chapter, has elected new executives that will run the affairs of the association in the next three years.
The newly elected chairperson of NAWOJ, Hauwa Ibrahim Ladan while speaking at the inauguration of the new excos held at NUJ Press Centre in Dutse on Saturday promised to run an-inclusive administration.
She also promised to ensure full reconciliation of all aggrieved members, to make the association more strong and formidable.
According to her, the new administration would not tolerate or condone any kind of division, which has negatively affected the progress of the association in the past.
News Point Nigeria had reported the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and media stakeholders in the state accusing the state government of interference and suppression by hijacking the leadership of the NAWOJ through the conduct of an ‘illegal’ election.
The allegation followed the reported emergence of an illegal exco of NAWOJ in the state through an ‘fake’ election without the approval of the national body of the NUJ, state council of the NUJ and the election credential committee.
Sources in the NUJ and some media stakeholders in the state told this newspaper then that the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim Mamser and the Managing Director of the Jigawa Radio, Alhaji Yusuf Adamu Babura supported the emergence of the new NAWOJ executives without due process.
But the Hauwa Ladan led excos are said to be the approved and nationally accepted executives as they were sworn in by the Chairman, NUJ, Jigawa State Chapter, Comrade Muhammad Bulangu and Vice president of NAWOJ (Zone A), Hajiya Halima Musa.
The oath of office was administered by Aisha Umar Esq, supported by the Chairman election credential commitee, Abdullahi Mukhtar.
Other elected excos are: Fadila Baffa Abdulkadir as Vice Chairperson, Zainab Baba as Secretary, Nafisa Hassan Abdullahi as Assistance Secretary, Halima Yusuf Angulu as Treasurer, Sadiya Inuwa Musa as Financial Secretary and Zainab J. Chiroma as Auditor.
