THE Jigawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has constituted a seven-member committee to oversee the revalidation of its membership in compliance with a directive issued by the National Secretariat of the Union.
News Point Nigeria reports that the announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Acting State Secretary, Aminu Umar Shuwajo, who revealed that the National Secretariat has already launched a dedicated online portal to facilitate the nationwide revalidation exercise.
All state councils have been directed to immediately commence the process across their various chapels.
Shuwajo emphasized that the revalidation exercise is not intended to target or victimise any member but is aimed at helping the national leadership update and sanitise NUJ’s membership database across all states and the Federal Capital Territory.
He described the move as part of broader institutional reforms designed to strengthen professionalism, accountability, and accurate record-keeping within the union.
According to the statement, the newly constituted committee is headed by Auwal Muhammed Kazaure of NTA Dutse, who will serve as chairman. Muhammad Umar Hadejia from the State Ministry of Information Chapel was named secretary.

• Sani Muhammed Gumel (Radio Jigawa)
• Garba Yakubu (Freedom Radio Dutse)
• Bushira Muhammed Yakasai (Horizon FM Dutse)
• Umar Majeri (Correspondents Chapel)
• Alhassan Aliyu (Jigawa Television – JTV)
Meanwhile, the State Chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Ismail Ibrahim Dutse, has called on all chapel chairmen across the state to give maximum cooperation to ensure a seamless, transparent, and speedy conduct of the revalidation exercise.
He reiterated that the exercise is crucial for building a credible and unified union membership base, adding that the council is committed to ensuring compliance with the national directive without disruption.
