LEADERS of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki are currently engaged in a closed-door meeting in Abuja, in what appears to be a significant political consultation following recent tensions involving the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
News Point Nigeria reports that the high-level meeting has drawn some of Nigeria’s most prominent political figures, underscoring its importance amid ongoing realignments within the opposition ahead of future elections.
Among those present are Senator David Mark, who serves as National Chairman of the ADC; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; and Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the last election.
Also in attendance are former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal; former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi; and Senator Aminu Tambuwal, among others.
On the PDP side, key figures present include Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde; factional National Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki; Professor Jerry Gana; former Senate President Adolphus Wabara; and former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, alongside other members of the PDP National Working Committee.
The meeting comes shortly after an anti-INEC protest, suggesting that discussions may focus on electoral concerns, party alignments, and broader opposition strategy as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Details of the deliberations remain undisclosed as the meeting continues behind closed doors.
