A WAVE of coordinated attacks has left several communities in Kano State’s Tsanyawa Local Government Area reeling in fear after gunmen launched multiple raids, kidnapping women and men in what residents describe as one of the most frightening assaults in recent years.
News Point Nigeria reports that the armed men, reportedly riding on more than 30 motorcycles, stormed the villages of ‘Yan Chibi, Masaurari, and Birisawa in late-night operations that stretched across several hours.
Residents say the attackers moved stealthily but violently, going house to house in search of young women and married women.
In Masaurari, within the ‘Yan Kamaye village area, the gunmen seized eight women and two men, forcing them onto waiting motorcycles before escaping into the darkness.
Similarly, in Birisawa village, located within the ‘Yan Chibi community cluster, five women were abducted during another brazen attack.
The violence continued in Sundu, where three women were kidnapped; however, two later escaped, according to locals familiar with the incident.
A resident who spoke with News Point Nigeria on condition of anonymity recounted the terrifying experience.
“They went from house to house, taking young women and married women. Nobody could sleep. The fear is too much,” the resident said.
Communities across Tsanyawa have increasingly become vulnerable to night-time raids, with many men reportedly choosing to sleep outside their homes to avoid being taken away during attacks.
Local intelligence suggests the bandits may have infiltrated Kano through routes linking ‘Yan Chibi to ‘Yar Gajam in Musawa LGA of Katsina State, a known corridor for cross-border armed groups. From there, they fanned into surrounding Kano communities, launching simultaneous strikes.
Security agencies have been alerted and are said to be tracking the movements of the attackers, though authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the developing situation.
