Katsina Governor, Radda Involved In Road Accident Along Daura-Katsina Highway

GOVERNOR Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State was involved in a road accident on Sunday evening, sparking concern and widespread reactions from citizens and political observers alike.

According to initial reports obtained by News Point Nigeria from a close family source, the accident occurred along the Daura-Katsina Road while the governor was on transit.

The source claimed the governor sustained a fracture and was receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Daura. “Thankfully, he has been stabilised,” the source added.

The news quickly spread across social media, with many expressing their prayers and well-wishes for the governor’s recovery.

However, the reports also caused a flurry of confusion and speculation regarding the severity of the accident, with some users questioning its authenticity and others fearing the worst.

In response to the growing concern, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, issued an official statement late Sunday night to clarify the situation.

“Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda was involved in a minor road accident this evening along the Daura–Katsina Road, while carrying out his official duties in service to the people of Katsina State,” the statement read.

“We are pleased to confirm that the Governor is in good health and stable condition, with no serious injuries sustained,” Mohammed added.

He further explained that the governor was undergoing routine medical evaluation at a health facility and was being attended to by qualified professionals.

“Governor Radda remains in high spirits and expresses his gratitude to Almighty Allah for His protection, as well as Katsina citizens and well-wishers for their prayers and concern,” the statement concluded.

While the exact details surrounding the accident remain sketchy, there is speculation that the governor may have been returning from Daura, the hometown of late former President Muhammadu Buhari. Governor Radda had made several visits to the area since Buhari’s passing a week ago.

The governor notably captured public attention during the burial of the late president when he was seen visibly emotional and unable to hold back tears as the military conducted final honors before Buhari’s remains were lowered into the grave.

The accident has added another emotional layer to what has already been a somber and politically sensitive period in Katsina State.

Radda’s close relationship with the late Buhari has been evident in his consistent presence at condolence gatherings in Daura throughout the week.

As of Sunday night, sources close to the state government confirm that the governor continues to receive medical attention but remains fully conscious, alert, and involved in governance.

More updates are expected as the situation unfolds.
