PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite in a cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening fiscal governance and economic reform.
News Point Nigeria reports that the nomination was formally conveyed to the Senate in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, seeking legislative confirmation in line with constitutional provisions.
As part of the changes, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite has been reassigned to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State.
The move marks her third ministerial portfolio under the Tinubu administration.
The State House announcement was contained in a press release signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, dated March 3, 2026.
Until his nomination, Oyedele served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, a body credited with spearheading a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s tax framework.
A native of Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, the 50-year-old economist and accountant has built a reputation as a leading public policy expert with extensive experience in fiscal reform and taxation.
Oyedele began his academic journey at Yaba College of Technology, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance.
He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School, strengthening his expertise in public finance and governance.
Before his nomination, Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, joining the global professional services firm in 2001 and rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
His tenure at PwC saw him advise governments and multinational organisations on tax policy, fiscal sustainability, and economic reforms across Africa.
In addition to his professional career, Oyedele is a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and serves as a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School.
His academic and policy contributions have positioned him as a prominent voice in Nigeria’s ongoing economic reform discourse.
