Kano Gov Names Kwankwaso’s Son, Sacked Official Who Threatened Tribunal Judges As Commissioner-Nominees

KANO State Governor, Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf has submitted the names of Mustapha Rabi’u Kwankwaso, Adamu Aliyu Kibiya and two others to the State Assembly for confirmation as commissioners.

Confirming the executive list at the plenary on Tuesday, Speaker Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Falgore said the list contains the names of four persons designated for the state executive council members.

The Speaker added that the screening and confirmation of the nominees will begin early next week.

The four names are; Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, Usman Shehu Aliyu, Abduljabbar Garko and Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Mustapha Kwankwaso is son of former Kano governor, former minister of defence, former Senator, Kano Central and the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Adamu Kibiya was former commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, who was sacked six months ago for issuing death threats to judges of the state’s governorship electoral petition tribunal.

Kibiya made the threats during a protest and prayer session organised by the state government for a favourable outcome for the party at the election tribunal In September 2023

Kibiya also promised to unleash mayhem on residents of the state, one worse than what residents of neighbouring Kaduna and Zamfara are going through.

He said if the tribunal judges ruled against his party, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the petition before it, they may pay with their lives.

“I am sending this message to the tribunal judges, any judge that allows himself to be used and collect bribes and pass judgment that is not right, we want to tell him he must choose between his life and the bribe money he collected.

Kibiya was sacked alongside Governor Abba’s Special Adviser on Youths, Yusuf Imam over a statement he also made against Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The  governor condemned the utterances made by both officials then saying the statements did not represent the official position of the State Government under his leadership.
