Kano Government Relaxes Curfew For 12 Hours

KANO state police command has announced relaxation of the ongoing curfew in the state from 6am to 6pm.

This announcement was made by the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Dogo Salman, following a joint security meeting with Governor Abba Yusuf at the Government House.

Commissioner Salman emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state while gradually easing restrictions to allow residents to resume their daily activities.

He noted that the decision to relax the curfew hours reflects the improved security situation and the efforts of the security agencies in restoring normalcy in Kano.

It could be recalled that the state government had imposed a 24-hour curfew in the state following the violence that trailed the #EndBadGovernance protests.

But on Saturday the curfew was relaxed for six hours from 8am to 2pm, which has also been extended to the coming days, according to state Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye.

“The government is concerned about the security of lives and properties, that was why a curfew was imposed for 24 hours.

“This will continue, and the situation will continue to be reviewed. When the security situation improves, the decision will be taken a further review. I hope the people will comply.”

Dantiye added that, the decision to relax the curfew is to enable people go about their normal businesses within the period.
