GOVERNOR Abba Kabir Yusuf has nominated Saidu Yahya, a seasoned anti-corruption investigator, as the new Executive Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC).
This was disclosed in a statement issued Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, and forwarded to the Kano State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The nominee, Saidu Yahya, is a 47-year-old career anti-graft professional with more than 18 years’ experience in the field. A graduate of Economics from Bayero University, Kano, and holder of an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Venture Creation, Yahya has served in key investigative roles at the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Until his nomination, he was Team Leader in ICPC’s General Investigations and Constituency/Executive Projects Tracking Division and served on the Directorate of Operations Task Force.
His areas of expertise include: investigation of bribery, corruption, and money laundering, illicit financial flows (IFF) and criminal diversion of public funds, project tracking and risk analysis and taff misconduct and asset tracing.
He is also a certified trainer on investigative techniques and project monitoring, having undergone training at various prestigious institutions including: Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria, Federal Ministry of Justice, Defense Intelligence College, Federal Treasury Academy, Guards Brigade, and Administrative Staff College of Nigeria.
His nomination is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the Commission’s capacity to tackle public sector corruption and enforce transparency in governance across the state.
In a related development, Barrister Hafsat Ada’u Kutama has been appointed as the new Secretary and Legal Adviser to the Commission, replacing Barrister Zaharadden Hamisu Kofar Mata, who has been redeployed to the Ministry of Justice.
Governor Yusuf used the occasion to extend his profound appreciation to the outgoing Chairman, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, praising his tenacity, courage, and commitment to public accountability.
“The Government of Kano State remains open and willing to work with Barrister Muhuyi in the future, whenever the opportunity arises,” the Governor said.
These changes, the statement emphasized, underscore the Yusuf administration’s renewed commitment to transparency, accountability, and the fight against corruption in Kano State.
