THE Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has forwarded the names of two distinguished nominees to the Kano State House of Assembly for confirmation as Honourable Commissioners and members of the state executive council.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa received by News Point Nigeria
The nominees are Barrister Abdulkarim Kabir Maude, SAN-designate, from Minjibir Local Government Area, and Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu, an Associate Professor of Allied Mathematics.
Barr. Maude, aged 40, is set to be formally conferred as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) at the Supreme Court tomorrow (Sunday). A lawyer, he graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, with a Law degree.
He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of Nigeria. His career spans over a decade of experience in office administration, court proceedings, client relations, legal drafting, corporate practice, and property management.
He also served as the Kano head of chambers at one of Nigeria’s leading law firms.
Maude holds an LLM in International Economic Law from Maryam Abacha American University of Niger, a Master’s in Business Commercial Law from Bayero University Kano, a BL from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, and an LLB (Hons.) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
The second nominee, Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu, 41, brings vast academic and administrative expertise. He obtained a B.Sc. in Mathematics from Bayero University Kano, an M.Sc. in Mathematics from the Jordan University of Science and Technology, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Firat University, Turkey.
Dr. Aliyu began his academic career in 2014 at the Federal University Dutse, before becoming a Senior Lecturer and later an Associate Professor at North West University, Kano. His global exposure includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Sun Yat-Sen University, China, and a role as Associate Adjunct Researcher at the Near East University, Cyprus.
Since 2023, he has served as the Statistician-General/Director General of the Kano State Bureau of Statistics. Widely recognized as one of the leading global researchers in mathematics, Dr. Aliyu is also a proud beneficiary of the Kwankwasiyya foreign scholarship and once served as the Financial Secretary of the NNPP Kano State Chapter.
In a related development, Governor Yusuf has also approved the appointment of Barrister Salisu Muhammad Tahir as the new Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice.
Until his appointment, Tahir was the Director of Public Prosecution at the State Ministry of Justice, where he earned a reputation for diligence and outstanding service delivery.
The Head of Service has been directed to complete all administrative processes to enable Tahir formally assume office by Monday, September 29, 2025.
Reaffirming his commitment to professionalism in governance, Governor Yusuf stated that the nomination and appointments reflect his resolve to enthrone competence, integrity, and youthful energy in the public service.
