THE MAAUN Group of Universities has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Professor Muhammad Sanusi Magaji as the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo (FUSTK), Kano State.
In a statement sent to News Point Nigeria on Sunday, the Founder of the MAAUN Group, Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, described the appointment as timely and well deserved, citing Prof. Magaji’s extensive academic and administrative experience.
Gwarzo said the President’s decision reflects a commitment to merit and competence in leadership appointments within the education sector.
“President Tinubu’s decision to appoint Prof. Magaji reflects confidence in competence and experience. We are optimistic that he will bring the needed transformation and institutional stability to FUSTK,” he said.
According to him, Prof. Magaji’s track record in academia and public service positions him well to lead the newly established university at a critical stage in its development.
Before his appointment as Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Magaji served as the pioneer Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kabo, the institution that was later upgraded by the Federal Government to become the Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo.
He also previously served as Acting President of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria in Kano, where he played key roles in academic administration and institutional growth.
Gwarzo noted that Prof. Magaji’s experience in steering institutions through formative stages would be invaluable as FUSTK consolidates its structures and academic programmes.
Describing the new Vice-Chancellor as a seasoned scholar and administrator, Gwarzo emphasised his deep commitment to research, innovation and academic excellence.
He expressed confidence that under Magaji’s leadership, FUSTK would strengthen its teaching capacity, expand research frontiers and foster innovation in science and technology core mandates of the university.
“With his wealth of experience across different academic and administrative roles, we believe he will place FUSTK on a solid footing for growth and development,” Gwarzo added.
The MAAUN founder also prayed for divine guidance for the new Vice-Chancellor as he assumes the responsibility of leading the institution toward national and global relevance.
He said the appointment has generated optimism within academic circles in Kano and beyond, particularly given the strategic importance of science and technology education to Nigeria’s development agenda.
As FUSTK begins a new chapter under Prof. Magaji’s leadership, stakeholders say expectations are high that the institution will emerge as a centre of excellence in research, innovation and technological advancement in northern Nigeria and across the country.
