THE National Vice Chairman (North East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Dauda Duhu, has condemned the recent deadly bomb attack in Maiduguri, describing it as a “heinous and cowardly act” that has plunged the nation into mourning.
In a condolence sent to News Point Nigeria and dated March 16, 2026, and addressed to the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, Duhu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and the injuries sustained by many others in the attack, which has been linked to Boko Haram insurgents.
He noted that the tragic incident has left families devastated, communities in grief, and the entire nation in shock, stressing that such acts of violence target vulnerable civilians and represent the worst form of terrorism.
Duhu strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a desperate attempt by terrorists to instill fear and destabilize society.
He, however, maintained that such actions would not weaken the resolve of Nigerians but rather strengthen collective determination to defeat insurgency.
“This senseless act of violence has left families shattered and communities grieving. However, it will not cow us into submission. Instead, it will reinforce our unity and commitment to confronting terrorism,” he said.
The APC chieftain commended the courage and resilience of the people of Borno State, who, despite years of insurgency, have continued to demonstrate strength and determination in the face of adversity.
He offered prayers for the victims, asking for eternal rest for those who lost their lives and speedy recovery for the injured, while also praying for lasting peace in Borno State and across Nigeria.
Duhu further called on Nigerians to come together during the difficult period, urging citizens to support the efforts of security agencies working to restore peace and stability in the region.
He emphasized the importance of national unity in the fight against terrorism, noting that collective action and solidarity remain crucial in overcoming the persistent threat of insurgency.
The APC leader concluded by urging continued prayers for the victims’ families, the people of Borno State, and the nation at large, expressing hope that peace, strength, and guidance would prevail in the face of ongoing security challenges.
