Manchester United Rashford Out For ‘Few Games’ With Muscle Injury

FORWARD Marcus Rashford will be out for “a few games” with a muscle injury, Manchester United have said.

The 25-year-old England international left the field holding his groin during the second half of United’s win over Everton on Saturday.

United did not give a specific timeline for his return but said he is expected to play again this season.

“I can’t give more details of it because we don’t know,” manager Erik ten Hag said.

“We have to see how it develops, the injury.

“Of course it’s a setback and he’s disappointed about it, but he’s not totally broke because he knows he will return quickly. He’s optimistic and he’s started straight on his recovery and his rehab so that helps to get back soon.”

Rashford has scored 28 times in 47 games this season and has featured in all of United’s league games. He has scored 20 goals in 28 matches since returning after the World Cup in December.

United play Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-final first leg on Thursday at Old Trafford.

Fellow forward Anthony Martial could feature in Rashford’s absence, having scored his first goal since December after coming off the bench against Everton on Saturday as he continues his comeback from injury.

Ten Hag said the France international was “ready” to start.

“The frontline against Brentford [United beat Brentford 1-0 with Martial coming off the bench] did really well and then we decided to continue that against Everton and they did again very well,” Ten Hag added.
