THE National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has officially announced a reduction in the fare for the 2026 Hajj exercise, pegging the cost between N8.1 million and N8.5 million, depending on the pilgrim’s departure zone.
The development comes weeks after the commission unveiled a tentative fare of N8.5 million, pending consultations with stakeholders and final approval from the Federal Government.
In a statement released on Saturday made available to News Point Nigeria, NAHCON explained that intending pilgrims from the Maiduguri-Yola Zone covering Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, and Taraba States will pay N8,118,333.67. Pilgrims from other northern states will pay N8,244,813.67, while those from southern states will pay N8,561,013.67.
According to the Commission, the revised fares were determined after “due consultations with the Forum of States leadership, all relevant stakeholders, and the approval of the Federal Government.”
NAHCON Chairman and CEO, Professor Abdullahi Sale Usman, highlighted that the new fares represent a significant reduction compared to the 2025 Hajj season.
“Compared to what was charged last year, each pilgrim will now pay an average of N200,000 less,” Usman stated.
The commission further disclosed that a delegation currently in Saudi Arabia has signed agreements with the 2026 Hajj Service Provider Company (Mashareeq Al-Zahabiyya) and the Transportation Company (Daleel Al-Ma’aleem) to ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience for Nigerian Muslims.
NAHCON also reminded intending pilgrims to complete all payments before December 31, 2025, to secure their slots for the spiritual journey.
The announcement is expected to bring relief to thousands of intending pilgrims who had expressed concern about affordability following the economic pressures of recent months.
