IN what he described as a deliberate move to enhance grassroots leadership and improve livelihoods, Hon. Musa Gude, a member representing Uke/Karshi Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has appointed 106 aides to assist him in legislative duties and constituency service.
Gude, who was elected under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), made the disclosure during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia on Tuesday.
According to the lawmaker, the decision was not just about easing his legislative workload, but also about creating opportunities for people within his constituency.
“I want to disclose that I have 106 aides on my payroll, including special and personal assistants. Some of them receive N100,000, N80,000, N50,000, N30,000, N20,000, and N10,000, respectively,” Gude revealed.
He stressed that the appointments would directly improve the standard of living of the aides and their families, describing the initiative as part of his philosophy of inclusive leadership and shared prosperity.
Gude also listed several other interventions he has undertaken to improve the lives of his constituents, ranging from education to infrastructure.
“I have done my best in health, education, agriculture, infrastructure and other areas. I have also empowered many constituents to enable them to become self-reliant,” he said.
The lawmaker noted that he had funded the installation of boreholes in several communities to tackle water scarcity, in addition to paying WAEC fees for many secondary school students who could not afford the costs.
Assuring that the appointment of 106 aides would not distract from his legislative duties, Gude pledged to continue providing quality representation in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
He also used the opportunity to appeal to his constituents to live in peace and harmony.
“I urge all my constituents to live in unity, peace, and tolerance, regardless of our differences. Development can only thrive where peace exists,” the lawmaker said.
For now, many in Uke/Karshi Constituency appear hopeful that the move will create jobs, spread resources, and strengthen the bond between the people and their representative.
