Nationwide Protests: Civil Society Groups Commend Fubara Over Timely Intervention

MEMBERS of the Civil Society Groups in Rivers state have commended Governor Sim Fubara over his timely intervention that helped dousing tensions that would have been created by the nationwide hunger protests.

Coordinator of the group Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke who described the intervention as a true reflection of a  true leader, advised the governor to ensure that he gages members of the Civil Society in a round table that will help engage the people in true dialogue.

The statement hailed the Rivers number o e citizen for being recorded as the first state governor to address protesters in the country a feat which he said was not achieved by others who claim to be very close to the President.

Amb. Nkweke described the intervention of the governor as indicative of somebody who loves Mr President genuinely

The group also said it will be holding a conference of youth groups in the state aimed at addressing major points raised by the protesters.

The Coalition of Civil Society Groups said based on the success of the intervention of the governor which has positioned him as a  protesters’ democrat after being the first governor to address protesters, the group hope to visit the governor inorder to set an agenda for the proposed conference of Civil Society and Youth Groups in thr state.
