THE Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced its decision to blacklist renowned Fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 de Ultimate, from domestic flights in Nigeria for six months due to his alleged misconduct at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
This was disclosed on Thursday during a press conference by Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection.
According to Achimugu, the decision stems from a firm commitment to enforcing aviation rules and ensuring no individual is above the law, regardless of status or connections.
“As we speak, the passenger is going to be blacklisted for the next six months from flying in Nigeria. What I must assure the general public is that everyone involved will be brought to book,” Achimugu stated.
The incident, which occurred at the domestic terminal of the Abuja airport, is said to have violated protocols governing public conduct and safety within airport facilities.
Achimugu stressed that aviation regulations are universal and non-negotiable, emphasizing that the NCAA is committed to safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s aviation space.
“These rules are globally accepted for the safety of all. No individual is above the law, and everyone found wanting will be sanctioned appropriately.”
In addition to the temporary travel ban, Achimugu revealed that the NCAA is writing to the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police to request legal action against the musician.
When asked whether K1’s alleged close ties with President Bola Tinubu could shield him from repercussions, Achimugu dismissed the speculation, stating:
“President Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, are both committed to the rule of law. There will be no sacred cows.”
As of the time of reporting, K1 de Ultimate has not publicly responded to the allegations or the impending sanctions.
