THE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, has congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, celebrating the resilience, courage, and unity that have defined Nigeria’s journey since 1960.
In his goodwill message sent to News Point Nigeria by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy, Alkassim Abdulkadir, Ambassador Tuggar described the country’s 65 years of nationhood as a testament to the indomitable spirit of its people, who have navigated challenges with strength while embracing opportunities for progress.
He noted that Nigeria continues to make significant strides in consolidating democracy, fostering economic development, and strengthening its leadership role both within Africa and on the global stage.
The Minister emphasized that the country’s foreign policy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is rooted in the Renewed Hope Agenda and anchored on the 4Ds framework, Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora.
He explained that these pillars guide Nigeria’s international engagements, with the aim of shaping a secure, prosperous, and globally respected nation.
“As we celebrate this milestone,” Ambassador Tuggar said, “we honour the sacrifices of our founding fathers and reaffirm our commitment to protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty, promoting regional stability, and engaging the world with dignity and purpose. Let us remain united in building a Nigeria that delivers peace, progress, and prosperity for all.”
The Minister also urged Nigerians everywhere to uphold the values of patriotism, unity, and service, stressing that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to positively project Nigeria’s image and protect its interests across the globe.
He further called on Nigerians in the diaspora to remain worthy ambassadors of their country, promoting its values and contributing to national development in their various countries of residence.
The Independence message, signed by Alkasim Abdulkadir, Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy to the Minister, concluded with a reaffirmation that Nigeria’s foreign engagements will remain people-centered, projecting hope and opportunities for its citizens worldwide.
