BENDEL Insurance secured a 2-1 victory over Plateau United, while Lobi Stars ended their four-game winless streak with a slim 1-0 win against Kwara United in Saturday’s Nigeria Premier Football League fixtures.
At the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Bendel Insurance took an early lead when Uche Collins struck in the seventh minute. However, Plateau United responded swiftly, with Victor Dawa equalising in the 24th minute.
The tightly contested match was ultimately decided by Kayode Oke’s well-taken goal in the 66th minute, giving the Benin Arsenals the edge over their opponents.
In Lafia, Lobi Stars grabbed a much-needed victory with a hard-fought 1-0 result against Kwara United. Peter Onah’s goal in the 26th minute proved decisive, as the Pride of Benue snapped a poor run of form that had seen them go without a win in their last four matches.
Kwara United’s woes were compounded late in the game when Junior Aimufua received a red card two minutes from time, reducing the team to 10 men and dashing any hopes of a comeback.
Lobi Stars’ win provides a critical boost to their NPFL campaign as they aim to climb further away from the relegation zone.
The team had endured a difficult period, drawing one and losing three of their last four matches. Saturday’s performance, however, showed a more determined side capable of grinding out results.
For Bendel Insurance, the victory against Plateau United further solidifies their position as one of the teams to watch this season. With decisive contributions from their attacking players and a disciplined defensive display, Greg Ikhenoba’s men continue to build momentum.
