A MEMBER representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Engr. Aderemi Oseni, has make case for Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford.
Oseni, an ardent football enthusiast, fan of Shooting Stars FC, Ibadan, and Manchester United, in a statement by his media aide, Idowu Ayodele said the club was unfair to the England international.
He urged United’s management to reconsider their approach, stressing that Rashford deserves respect for his years of service.
He expressed confidence that the player’s current challenges would ultimately lead to greater success.
According to him: “The treatment of Rashford by Manchester United is a calculated attempt to rubbish the rhythmic successful career and glory this young talent has built over the years.
“If he has made mistakes, whether due to youthful exuberance or personal struggles, it should be seen as part of his growth. Rather than offering support, the club has chosen to humiliate him publicly.”
Rashford, who has been with the club since seven and ranks as United’s 13th all-time highest goal scorer, has been frozen out of the squad since mid-December.
Reports suggest that new manager, Ruben Amorim, has sidelined the 27-year-old over concerns about his commitment, a decision the lawmaker described as unjust and damaging to the player’s career.
Oseni stressed: “The situation escalated recently when the manager, Ruben Amorim, reportedly declared that he would rather play his 63-year-old goalkeeper coach, Jorge Vital, than recall Rashford to the squad. I want to condemn the remarks, it is an unnecessary public humiliation of a player who has given his best years to the club.
“It is now crystal clear that Rashford was being forced out of the club due to internal politics and envy rather than poor performance.
“If United no longer needs him, they should facilitate a dignified exit and hand him over to a club where he would be celebrated instead of humiliating or destroying his career.”
The lawmaker pointed out Rashford had played only a few matches under Amorim but still managed to score four goals in about three appearances before being frozen out.
