Planned Nationwide Protests: “Why We Are Intervening” – IAWPA

THE International Association Of World Peace Advocates IAWPA has said it will be Intervening in the planned nationwide protests in order to ensure the safety of lives and properties of Nigerians.

The world renowned global peace advocacy group said the ugly outcome of the endsars protests as well as the sad news of the Kenyan protests should not be allowed to repeat itself.

The group in a press statement  jointly signed by its African Director Amb. John Metchie and International Spokesman Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke while decrying the state of the nation’s economy presently, said Nigerians must explore other options that will help strengthen good governance and security rather than resorting to self help.

The association stressed  that it is not unaware of the sufferings which Nigerians are facing and called on the government  officials to be patriotic enough to implement policies that will reduce hunger in the land as well as safeguard the lives and properties of its citizens.

The International Association Of World Peace Advocates IAWPA also said there are better options that can help reduce the sufferings in the country which definitely does not include protests that will in the long run, be hijacked by hoodlums who do not share the ideology and vision of the organisers of the planned protests.

The association advised the Federal government to seriously engage  Civil Society Groups at this critical time rather than depend on its officials who at most time, end up sabotaging the efforts of government.

” If there is any time the Federal Government needs the services of established Non governmental groups, this is the time. Holding meetings with state Governors,  Ministers and other government appointees might be good but the most important thing is to engage leaders of civil society. This is what we expect from government ” the statement said.
