NIGER State Police command has rescued six teenagers stolen by human trafficking syndicates in different parts of the state within a month. The suspects include a couple, caught with two of the children.
News Point Nigeria reports that nemesis caught up with one Usman Adamu 40yrs of Sabon-Wuse, Tafa, who was sighted with four children around Angwan-Katampe suspected to have been abducted.
Police operatives attached to Tafa Div mobilised to the scene said Usman was found with four children; Khalid Ilyasu 7yrs, Sadiq Ilyasu 11yrs, Ahmed Ilyasu 5yrs and Sadiq Idris 5yrs, all of Sabon-Wuse.
This newspaper gathered that the incident which spread to all parts of the town immediately attracted a large mob, which tried to lynch the suspect but the Police operatives were able to rescue the suspect and the children and taken to the Police station.
The Public Relations Officer of the state Police command, Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident.
He said in the course of interrogation, the suspect confessed that a woman, yet to be identified requested him to get the children for her and promised to reward him handsomely, adding that the suspect is under further investigation in SCID Minna and promised that the said woman would be traced and arrested.
Similarly, two suspects, husband and wife have been arrested in connection with the abduction of two children, who were sold out at N1.1million each.
The suspected couple, Leonard Ugochukwu, 55yrs and Ngozi Ugochukwu, 45yrs reside in Kurudu, Abuja.
“The two suspects were arrested with two suspected trafficked children, one Goodnews Sunday 4yrs and Ummikari Bello 3yrs in their residence at Orozo area of Kurudu, Abuja.
“During interrogation, the couple claimed that they got the children through one Okpalaye Ibrahim, who works in a hospital in the same area.
“The suspects confessed that Ibrahim sold the two children for them at the rate of N1.1million each, with a registration fee of N100,000, totalling N2.3million,” the PPRO declared.
He said the suspects were presently in custody and investigation is on to arrest other suspects connected with the case and recovery of other trafficked children.
