President-General Of Ohanaeze, Iwuanyanwu Dies At 82

EMMANUEL Iwuanyanwu, the president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is dead.

News Point Nigeria reports that the 82-year-old Iwuanyanwu died on Thursday after a brief illness.

Iwuanyanwu, a politician and businessman, took over the reins of Ohanaeze Ndigbo after the death of George Obiozor.

Iwuanyanwu founded Hardel and Enic, a construction company that constructed roads and bridges all over Nigeria during the military era.

He was also the founder of the defunct Oriental Airlines.

Iwuanyanwu was a well known sports enthusiast.

He was the founder of Iwuanyanwu Nationale, a football team based in Owerri.

With return to civilian rule in 1998, he made attempts to contest for President under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Iwuanyanwu studied engineering at University of Nigeria, Nsukka. 

His death is yet to be announced by his family, Imo State government and Ohaneze Ndigbo.

Iwuanyanwu is survived by his wife, Lady Princess Frances Iwuanyanwu, many children and grandchildren.

The statement stated that the burial details will be announced later by the family after due consultations.
