IN a significant boost for vulnerable children in Borno State, the Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation has sponsored the education of 12 orphaned and underprivileged students at Ibra Foundation School, Miringa, in Biu Local Government Area, providing them with a full year of academic support and essential learning materials.
News Point Nigeria reports that the intervention, which covers pupils across the Nursery, Primary and Secondary sections of the school, has been widely praised by school authorities as a life-changing gesture that will help prevent dropouts and restore hope to children facing severe economic hardship.
Speaking on the initiative, the Proprietor of Ibra Foundation School, Malam Ibrahim Abubakar, expressed deep appreciation to Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo for what he described as a timely and impactful act of compassion.
According to him, the foundation fully settled the school fees of the 12 beneficiaries for one academic session and also provided them with complete school uniforms, writing materials, school bags and footwear.
“The students selected for this sponsorship cut across different levels of education, from nursery to secondary school. This ensures that children at various critical stages of learning are supported and protected from the risk of abandoning their education,” Abubakar said.
He noted that the gesture had significantly eased the burden on the families and guardians of the beneficiaries, many of whom have struggled to keep their children in school due to poverty and the lingering socio-economic effects of insecurity in the region.
“This intervention has restored confidence and hope to these children. They can now concentrate on their studies without fear of being sent home for unpaid fees,” he added.
Abubakar offered prayers for Professor Gwarzo, asking Almighty Allah to reward him abundantly and increase him in wisdom, resources and goodwill.
“We pray that Allah raises more people with this level of compassion and commitment to the education of vulnerable children,” he said.
Also reacting, the Principal of Ibra Foundation School, Jibrin A. Jibrin, speaking on behalf of the management, staff and students, expressed profound gratitude to the Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation for the support.
“This gesture has made a remarkable difference in the lives of these children and has given them a renewed sense of belonging and purpose. It is not just financial support; it is an investment in their future,” Jibrin said.
He described the initiative as a clear demonstration of social responsibility and a strong commitment to education, particularly for children who are often left behind due to circumstances beyond their control.
The school management also called on other well-meaning individuals, philanthropists and organisations to emulate the foundation’s example by supporting education for orphaned and underprivileged children, especially in conflict-affected communities.
The Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation, based in Kano, has continued to support educational development and humanitarian causes across different parts of the country, with a growing focus on access to education as a tool for social transformation.
