GOMBE State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has called on the Muslim Ummah in the state and the general citizenry to intensify prayers for Nigeria during the holy month of Ramadan and beyond.
News Point Nigeria reports that in a goodwill message to mark the commencement of the Ramadan fast, Governor Inuwa Yahaya stressed the need for collective responsibility, urging all citizens to play their respective roles in charting a new course towards addressing the problems bedevilling the country.
He encouraged the faithful to seize the spiritual significance of the holy month to pray fervently for peace, security, unity and national stability.
“Ramadan, as one of the five pillars of Islam, offers the Ummah a golden opportunity for spiritual rejuvenation, deep reflectionand increased devotion through supplication and other acts of worship,” the Governor stated.
He added: “We must use this sacred period to pray earnestly for our dear state and nation, as well as for those in authority, as we collectively confront the multiple challenges facing our country, including banditry and other forms of criminality.”
Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed optimism that with sincere prayers, renewed commitment and patriotism, Nigeria would overcome its present challenges and emerge stronger, more united and more prosperous.
He urged Islamic clerics to consistently preach peaceful coexistence, toleranceand unity during their Tafsir sessions, cautioning against sermons capable of inciting division or threatening the prevailing peace in the state and the country.
He also appealed to well-meaning individuals to extend a helping hand to the less privileged, in line with the spirit of compassion and generosity that defines Ramadan.
The Governor also admonished Muslims to reflect the true ideals of Ramadan and Islam in their daily conduct, emphasizing that the religion upholds peace, kindness, discipline, humility and obedience to lawful authority.
He called on the people of Gombe State to remain law-abiding, tolerant, and united, and to continue safeguarding the prevailing peaceful coexistence in the “Jewel in the Savannah.”
“On our part, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing basic amenities, ensuring equitable distribution of infrastructure and expanding access to social services across the nooks and crannies of the state, to promote unity, social inclusion, and shared prosperity,” the Governor assured.
He wished the Muslim Ummah a peaceful, spiritually fulfilling and rewarding Ramadan, while praying for Allah’s guidance, mercy, and blessings upon the state and the nation.
