LAGOS State Governor, Bababjide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered the dissolution of the state executive cabinet and all other aides with effect from Friday, May 26, 2023.
Sanwo-Olu, announced this on Wednesday, in a circular released by Head of Service, HoS, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
The circular number 046, was titled: “End of Political Office Holders-Cabinet/Non-Cabinet Ranks.”
The governor also asked all political appointees in the state to declare their assets while handing over the affairs of their offices latest by Friday, May 26.
He said the declaration of assets is in compliance with the provision of paragraph 11 (1b), part one of the fifth schedule of Nigeria constitution on end of tenure assets declaration.
Sanwo-Olu added that the affected officers are Commissioners, Special Advisers (cabinet and non-cabinet), all assistants (Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Personal Assistants, Personal Assistants, Technical Assistants, Personal aides etc).
He directed the officers to prepare individual handover notes and return any government property including utility/project vehicles in their possessions to the accounting officer/most senior director of their respective ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
“However, political appointees whose appointments are by legislation/tenure-based and members of statutory commissions/Governing Councils that their tenure have not lapsed, are not affected by the directive, unless otherwise formally informed,” the circular noted.
Sanwo-Olu thanked the appointees and wished them well in their future endeavours.
The governor would be sworn-in on Monday for his second term in office after winning the March 18 governorship election in the state.
