SIX people have been killed and two others injured in a road crash along the Kabba–Odo-Ape Road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
News Point Nigeria reports that the accident, which occurred on Saturday, involved a truck and a commercial vehicle that collided along the busy route.
The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lawal Fagge, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with Channels Television on Sunday.
According to him, six people died in the crash, while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Residents of Odo-Ape reportedly joined efforts to rescue victims from the wreckage before emergency responders arrived at the scene.
Fagge attributed the crash to speeding and cautioned motorists against dangerous driving, including excessive speed and unnecessary overtaking.
He also urged drivers to avoid driving when fatigued, stressing that compliance with basic road safety measures remains critical to reducing crashes and fatalities on the nation’s highways.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital in Kabba.
