SUPER Eagles forward, Akor Adams has played down concerns over his recent goal drought after helping Sevilla FC secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Getafe CF in Spain’s top flight.
News Point Nigeria Sport reports that the encounter, staged at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, saw Sevilla extend their positive run despite Adams failing to find the net for the fourth consecutive league match.
The 24-year-old forward has now drawn blanks against Mallorca, Girona, Alaves and Getafe. His last goal came in January during a 2-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao, shortly after returning from international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
While the statistics may point to a dip in scoring form, Adams’ influence on the pitch remains undeniable.
In a closely contested affair, Adams proved instrumental in Sevilla’s match-winning moment. Displaying physical strength and composure, he shielded the ball from his marker before laying off a precise pass to Swiss midfielder Djibril Sow, who drilled a low shot into the bottom-right corner to seal all three points.
Adams was substituted in the 89th minute, making way for Gerard Fernandez, as Sevilla held firm to secure a clean sheet and back-to-back positive results.
Speaking to Sevilla’s official website after the game, Adams emphasised collective achievement over personal accolades.
“It’s important that the team has achieved this victory, earning points in three consecutive matches,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter who scores, the important thing is that we accumulate points and keep a clean sheet. The work has been good from everyone. Now it’s time to think about next week.”
Despite his current dry spell, Adams has enjoyed a productive LaLiga campaign. In 20 league appearances — 13 of them starts, he has scored six goals and provided three assists.
He has accumulated 1,315 minutes, averaging 66 minutes per match. His expected goals (xG) figure of 7.66 indicates he has consistently found himself in promising positions, though he has missed seven big chances and currently holds a 15 per cent conversion rate.
Adams averages 2.1 shots per game, with 1.1 hitting the target. Beyond scoring, he has also contributed creatively, registering three assists from a modest expected assists (xA) figure of 0.39.
In build-up play, he averages 20.5 touches and 6.8 accurate passes per match, operating with a passing accuracy of 63 per cent.
As Sevilla push to maintain momentum in the closing stretch of the campaign, Adams’ all-round performances continue to underline his value to the side. While the goals may have temporarily dried up, his strength, movement and team-oriented approach remain central to Sevilla’s ambitions.
