SUPER Eagles reserve goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been suspended for three months by his Tanzanian club, Singida Black Stars, over allegations of match-fixing.
News Point Nigeria Sport reports that the club announced the suspension in a statement issued through its Disciplinary Committee on Saturday, saying the ban was to allow an investigation into the allegations.
No formal charges or detailed evidence were made public, and Tanzanian football authorities have yet to make any official statement on the matter.
The suspension comes days after Obasogie was involved in a costly error when Singida Black Stars faced Namungo FC in the Tanzanian league on Thursday. Leading 1-0 deep into stoppage time, the goalkeeper spilled what appeared to be a routine catch from a free kick, allowing Fabrice Ngoy to equalise for Namungo.
In the same statement, the club also suspended Ugandan midfielder Khalid Aucho for three months for indiscipline and absenteeism, warning all players and staff to uphold discipline, accountability and respect for the club.
Obasogie, who joined Singida Black Stars in 2025 from Ethiopian club Fasil Kenema, has been a regular presence at the Super Eagles camp.
He was part of Nigeria’s squad at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Super Eagles won bronze, serving as third-choice goalkeeper behind Stanley Nwabali and Francis Uzoho.
He is the second Nigerian goalkeeper to be linked to a match-fixing or betting scandal in recent years. In 2025, Maduka Okoye was suspended from football activities in Italy for two months over his involvement in a betting scandal.
