Super Eagles Set For Gabon Test As World Cup Playoffs Begin November 13 In Rabat

THE race for Africa’s final ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup will hit full throttle in Rabat next month, with powerhouse nations Nigeria, Cameroon, DR Congo and Gabon set for a fierce mini-tournament that offers a last lifeline to reach the United States, Canada and Mexico.

    BORNO PATRIOTS

News Point Nigeria Sports reports that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday confirmed that all matches, two semi-finals and a final will take place in the Moroccan capital between November 13 and November 17.

Nigeria will take center stage in the opening semi-final when they lock horns with Gabon on November 13, in what promises to be a blockbuster clash featuring two of Africa’s biggest striking names; Victor Osimhen and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Osimhen, who netted a crucial hat-trick against Benin Republic to seal Nigeria’s playoff slot on goal difference ahead of Burkina Faso, will once again lead the charge for the Super Eagles.

Aubameyang of Marseille remains Gabon’s deadliest weapon despite his advancing age.

Later that day, Cameroon, Africa’s most frequent World Cup campaigners with eight appearances tackle DR Congo, a side desperate for a second World Cup comeback after their lone appearance in 1974 when the nation was known as Zaire.

Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo, fresh off a brace in the Premier League, is expected to spearhead the Indomitable Lions’ attack.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has already mapped out final preparations, confirming that the Super Eagles’ camp opens Sunday, November 9 in Rabat.

NFF President Ibrahim Gusau assured that the federation and government are united in ensuring that the team leaves nothing to chance:

“Every preparation needed to see the team soar to victory will be made… That special spirit that saw the team score the four goals they needed against Benin Republic will propel them again in the playoffs,” Gusau said.
