Tight Security As Appeal Court Is Set To Delivers Judgment on Kano, Bauchi Gov Disputes

THERE is tight security at the Court of Appeal complex in the Federal Capital Territory, as the appellate court is set to deliver judgment in Kano and Bauchi states governorship appeals.

Our correspondent observed that some roads leading to the court were cordoned off by men of the Nigeria Police Force.

Our correspondent also witnessed a large number of supporters trying to gain access to the premises.

Police officers trying to contain the surge of supporters fired teargas canisters to disperse them.

However, as of the time of filing this report, police officers are making a frantic effort to forestall the breakdown of law and order on the court premises.

The judgments in both appeals were slated for 10am.

The two cases have attracted large crowds outside the appeal court, almost causing a stampede.

Security personnel also fired teargas to disperse the crowds who tried to force their way into the court premises.

As of 10:15 am, journalists had yet to gain entry into the courtroom where the Kano judgment would be delivered.

Meanwhile, the Bauchi State appeal has commenced with the arrival of the three-member panel.
