PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved and assigned portfolios to the five newly appointed Executive Directors (EDs) of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), a move the presidency says is aimed at accelerating development and improving governance in the region.
News Point Nigeria reports that the announcement was made on Monday in Abuja by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
According to the statement, the appointees and their assigned portfolios are as follows:
Biliquis Jumoke – Executive Director, Administration and Human Resources
Aisha Rufai Ibrahim – Executive Director, Commercial and Industrial Development
James Abel Uloko – Executive Director, Corporate Services
Prof. Muhammad Bashar – Executive Director, Finance
Atika Ajanah – Executive Director, Projects
The President urged the newly designated Executive Directors to work collaboratively with the governing board of the commission to fulfill the NCDC’s mandate of promoting, coordinating, and driving sustainable development across the North-Central geopolitical zone.
President Tinubu emphasized that the appointments were made after careful consideration of the experience, expertise, and leadership qualities of the individuals.
“These appointments reflect our commitment to strengthening the North-Central Development Commission to deliver meaningful infrastructure, economic, and social development projects that will improve the lives of millions in the region,” the statement read in part.
The NCDC was established to provide a coordinated response to the socio-economic and developmental challenges faced by states in the North-Central zone, including Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
With security challenges, infrastructural deficits, and economic dislocation among the pressing concerns of the region, the Commission is expected to focus on post-conflict reconstruction, agricultural development, industrialization, and job creation.
