PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu’s Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Nurudeen Yusuf, has been decorated with a promotion rank in the Nigerian army.
The president’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, announced the development in a terse tweet on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
He announced the development with three videos that showed the president decorating Yusuf and congratulating him at the State House.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu decorates his Aide-De-Camp, LT Colonel Nurudeen Alonwonle Yusuf with his new rank of Colonel at the State House. President congratulates ADC and his family on the accomplishment,” the president’s aide tweeted.
Yusuf, who assumed duty as President Tinubu’s ADC in May 2023 was appointed with the rank of a lieutenant colonel.
Yusuf’s promotion to colonel rank in the Nigerian army came six months after his appointment as the new traditional ruler of Ilemona town in the Oyun Local Government in Kwara State.
The appointment followed the demise of his father, late Oba Yusuf Omokanye Oyekanmi, the former Elemona, who occupied the throne until his death in May 2023.
While confirming his appointment, the presidency, in a statement said Yusuf, apart from being the heir apparent to the throne, the people of Ilemona have expressed admiration for his acts of kindness and humanitarian gestures.
To authenticate his appointment, the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq presented a staff of office to him on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
Despite being chosen as the new king of Ilemona town, the president’s aide decided to hold onto his presidential duties.
The monarch-in waiting has, however, appointed a regent to deputise for him until he is ready to take over.
