PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has arrived in Abuja after spending two weeks in Lagos, where he celebrated Eid al-Adha.
Tinubu was accompanied to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport – from where he left for Abuja – by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other government officials.
Upon his return to Abuja, Tinubu attended the inauguration of the rehabilitated and refurbished Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.
At the event, Tinubu urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, not to be distracted by busybodies and naysayers but to focus on his mandate to transform the nation’s capital.
“And I am glad, Nyesom Wike, you are reflecting that. Don’t pay attention to busybodies and the bystanders, and whatever they say. Continue with your good work. You are a transformational leader. You have the vision, foresight, and determination to succeed,” Tinubu told Wike.
Tinubu had been in Lagos since May 27th, 2025, and attended the 50th anniversary celebration of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Lagos State. He later joined other Muslim faithful in marking the Eid al-Adha.
During his two-week stay, Tinubu commissioned several projects in the city and also played host to a retinue of high-profile guests in his home.
On May 31, the president inaugurated Phase 1, Section 1 (30km by six lanes) of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway.
Five days later, he also flagged off the reconstruction of the access road to the Lekki Deep Seaport in Lagos State in a ceremony attended by captains of industry, government officials, among others.
While in Lagos, Tinubu played host to top dignitaries, including present and former governors, chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), among others.
Sanwo-Olu, who was earlier rumoured to have a rift with Tinubu, also visited the president alongside members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the highest decision-making body of the APC in Lagos.
After the meeting, the Lagos State governor likened his relationship with Tinubu to that of a father and son, dismissing insinuations of a fractured relationship with the president.
“There is none. There are people Catholic than the Pope; they cry more than the bereaved,” he said.
“Father and son (affairs) are things that we always ensure that we clear. There is nothing at all. “He is my father and my leader, and we are grateful that he has given us the audience to say hello to him today,” he added.
