Tinubu Restructures Media Team, Appoints Dare As Special Adviser, Media; Bwala, Policy Communications

PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reorganized his media and communications team to enhance the efficiency of government communication.

The presidency announced that Bayo Onanuga, Sunday Dare, and Daniel Bwala would now work jointly as spokespersons for the administration.

The decision, according to a statement issued by Onanuga early Tuesday, is aimed at ensuring that government policies, decisions, and engagements are communicated effectively and consistently.

The President believes a collective approach to media communication will better serve the needs of the public.

Sunday Dare, formerly Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, has been reassigned as Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications.

Similarly,  Daniel Bwala, who was initially named Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication last week, is now designated as Special Adviser on Policy Communication. Bayo Onanuga retains his role as Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

The statement read, “President Bola Tinubu has re-designated the positions of two recently appointed officials in the State House media and communications team to enhance efficiency within the government’s communication machinery.”

The restructuring is as follows:

  • Mr Sunday Dare – hitherto Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation is now Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications.
  • Mr Daniel Bwala – announced last week as Special Adviser, Media and Public Communication, is now Special Adviser, Policy Communications.

“These appointments, along with the existing role of Special Adviser, Information and Strategy, underscore that there is no single individual spokesperson for the Presidency.

“Instead, all the three Special Advisers will collectively serve as spokespersons for the government.

“This approach aims to ensure effective and consistent communication of government policies, decisions, and engagements,” the statement read.
