THE Federal Executive Council will on Thursday hold a special session to honour the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement via his official X handle on Wednesday.
The presidential spokesman stated that the session will be presided over by President Tinubu.
“A special session of the Federal Executive Council in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari will be held on Thursday, 17 July, from 1 pm. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lead the session of tributes for the departed leader,” Onanuga said.
The announcement comes after the regular FEC meeting scheduled for Monday was postponed to allow the President and members of his cabinet to attend Buhari’s burial in Daura, Katsina State.
Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s military head of state from 1983 to 1985, and was democratically elected from 2015 to 2023, died on Sunday and was laid to rest on Tuesday in his hometown of Daura.
The funeral was attended by Tinubu, state governors, ministers, and dignitaries from across the country, who paid their last respects to the former leader.
