TROOPS of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) have rescued seven kidnapped victims along the Daye-Malumfashi road in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
News Point Nigeria reports that the victims comprised six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, and a male commercial driver, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West OPFY, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja.
The victims were rescued on the evening of September 21, 2026, after the troops responded to a distress call following an attack on a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina.
Danja said the swift intervention of the troops forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee the scene.
He said the seven victims were rescued unhurt and subsequently subjected to preliminary security profiling and medical evaluations.
The rescued victims were later handed over to designated officials to facilitate their reunion with their families and school authorities.
