MINISTER of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has been named among the winners of The Street Journal’s prestigious “Super Ministers of the Year” award, in recognition of his sweeping reforms and high-impact diplomatic engagements since assuming office.
In a statement released by the organisers sent to News Point Nigeria, Tuggar was praised for leaving “indelible imprints” on Nigeria’s foreign relations and for translating President Bola Tinubu’s foreign policy philosophy into measurable global achievements.
Tuggar has championed the country’s 4D foreign policy doctrine, Democracy, Development, Diaspora, and Demography, which the organisers said has repositioned Nigeria on the global stage with: Stronger diplomatic alliances and record-breaking investment inflows.
Under his leadership, Nigeria secured key victories on the continent and global platforms, including: stronger representation in the African Union (AU) and inclusion as a BRICS partner member.
The publication also highlighted Tuggar’s bold handling of diplomatic friction with Washington, particularly: rejecting the deportation of criminals or prisoners from the US and opposing visa restrictions unfairly targeted at Nigerians.
Tuggar received the honour alongside:
Olubunmi Ojo — Minister of Interior
Dr. Jumoke Oduwole — Minister of Trade, Industry & Investment
Abubakar Kyari — Minister of Agriculture & Food Security
Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa — Minister of Education
The organisers said the awards showcase outstanding public officials making “exceptional contributions to national development and global recognition.”
