TWO media aides to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, have resigned from their appointments, marking a notable development within the state government’s communications team.
News Point Nigeria reports that the aides, Pastor Taiwo Gbamila, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Multimedia, and Olugbenga Abire, Special Assistant on New Media tendered their resignation letters on Sunday and Monday respectively.
Gbamila, in a letter addressed to Governor Aiyedatiwa and the Secretary to the State Government, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve.
“Your Excellency, thank you for the opportunity to serve. I hereby respectfully tender the resignation of my appointment,” the letter read.
Although the exact date of his appointment was not stated in the letter, Gbamila had been actively involved in overseeing multimedia engagements and digital communications for the governor’s office.
Similarly, Abire announced his resignation in a statement shared on Sunday, describing the decision as emotional.
“I am emotional to tell you that I have decided to quit as Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor of Ondo State,” he stated.
In a subsequent post on his Facebook page on Monday, Abire disclosed that he had formally communicated his decision to the governor on Sunday evening, February 15, 2026.
He noted that Governor Aiyedatiwa, who appointed him on December 23, 2023, approved his resignation.
“As a father, he prayed for me and sanctioned my plans. I equally hinted to my colleagues, who wished me well,” Abire wrote.
Neither Gbamila nor Abire disclosed the reasons behind their resignations, fueling speculation about possible internal restructuring or personal decisions.
The Ondo State Government has yet to issue an official statement regarding replacements or broader changes within the governor’s media team.
While there is no indication of political tension or disagreement, the departure of two key communication aides within 48 hours is likely to attract attention within Ondo’s political circles.
