THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a strong public advisory urging Nigerians to ignore a fake recruitment advertisement currently circulating on social media, warning that the fraudulent campaign is designed to scam unsuspecting job seekers.
In a statement released on Wednesday via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle seen by News Point Nigeria,, INEC disclosed that the bogus notice claimed the commission was recruiting for various positions and directed applicants to a fake portal, inecrecruitment.com, to submit personal details.
The commission categorically denied any ongoing recruitment exercise, stressing that it does not operate the website being circulated.
“Our attention has been drawn to a fake advertorial currently circulating on social media, giving the impression that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is recruiting for various positions,” the statement read.
“The impostor behind this illicit recruitment exercise asked would-be respondents to log on to an equally fake portal – inecrecruitment.com to complete their applications. But INEC does not have any such portal.”
INEC emphasized that any official recruitment drive would be announced through its verified channels and official website.
The electoral umpire warned Nigerians not to fall victim to what it called the “antics of criminal elements,” adding that such scams are designed to harvest personal data, exploit vulnerable job seekers, and defraud citizens.
“The Commission hereby calls on the public to disregard this fraudulent call for applications. The Commission is not recruiting. Do not fall victim to the antics of criminal elements,” INEC warned.
