THE Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has declared that “bloody thieves” and “lunatics” such as former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, will never be allowed to become president of Nigeria.
News Point Nigeria reports that Wike made the remarks while speaking to journalists in Abuja after a brief meeting with FCT area council chairmen, launching a verbal attack on Amaechi over comments the African Democratic Congress (ADC) politician reportedly made to voters in Edo State, where he said that “only thieves and mad people” would vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Visibly angered by the remarks, Wike questioned Amaechi’s comments, arguing that anyone who described Tinubu’s supporters as thieves and mad people should not expect to escape criticism.
The FCT minister, who accused Amaechi of hypocrisy and engaging in political warfare, also criticised the media and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for allegedly allowing such campaign rhetoric to go unchecked.
“A lunatic cannot preside over the affairs of this country! He said those who want to vote for Tinubu are thieves. So, I’m a thief? That’s what he’s saying.
“But who can be a bigger thief than Amaechi? Ask him who has been his psychiatric doctor,” Wike said.
Wike warned that if Amaechi continued to insult the President’s supporters, he would face resistance in his home state of Rivers.
“If he continues along this line, it will be difficult for him to campaign in Rivers State. We will make it difficult for him.

“You cannot sit down, call voters madmen and thieves, and expect to walk away free,” he stated.
The minister further insisted that Amaechi had no moral standing to lecture Nigerians or aspire to the country’s highest office, citing allegations concerning projects undertaken during Amaechi’s tenure as governor of Rivers State.
Wike challenged journalists to hold Amaechi accountable for what he described as multi-million-dollar projects whose funds had not been properly accounted for.
He alleged that $39 million had been paid for the Justice Karibi-Whyte Hospital, which he claimed was never built.
The FCT minister also criticised a $10 million fumigation contract awarded to a Cuban firm to eliminate mosquitoes, describing it as a waste of public funds.
In addition, Wike referred to the N68 billion monorail project in Port Harcourt, which he said was abandoned during Amaechi’s tenure as governor.
He further alleged that $308 million in proceeds from the sale of state-owned gas turbines had been looted.

“This is a known thief who was indicted by a judicial panel of inquiry and lost his appeal all the way to the Supreme Court.
“Yet the media allows such a character to go on television and call the President and voters thieves,” Wike said.
