THE Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria’s national women’s football team, the Super Falcons, on their landmark victory at the 2024/2025 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Rabat, Morocco.
The Super Falcons clinched their 10th WAFCON title after a thrilling and hard-fought win against host nation Morocco, a momentous achievement that further cements Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.
“This is more than just a win on the pitch; it is a powerful symbol of the strength, discipline, and unbreakable spirit of Nigerian women,” Imaan stated.
She praised the team’s resilience, unity, and grace under pressure, describing the victory as not only a national triumph but a deeply emotional moment for every girl across Nigeria.
“As Minister of Women Affairs, I am immensely proud. Tonight, every Nigerian girl sees a reflection of her dreams in your victory.
You have not only lifted a trophy, you have lifted the hearts of an entire nation,” she added.
Minister Imaan also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for their unwavering support to the Super Falcons and the broader Nigerian sports landscape under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“This victory is also a testament to the transformative impact of leadership that believes in the power of women.
I thank Mr. President and the First Lady for creating an enabling environment where women in sports can thrive.”
The Minister reaffirmed that the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs remains steadfast in championing policies and programmes that empower Nigerian women and girls, not only in sports but across every sphere of life.
“Our girls need heroes, and the Super Falcons have given them more than a trophy, they’ve given them courage, vision, and hope,” Imaan concluded.
