PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Saturday depart Abuja on a three-state visit to Borno, Bauchi, and Lagos States, as part of official engagements and end-of-year activities.
According to a statement sent to News Point Nigeria on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s first stop will be Borno State, where he is expected to commission several projects executed by the Borno State Government under Governor Babagana Zulum, as well as projects undertaken by the Federal Government.
The visit to Borno will also feature a social engagement, as President Tinubu will attend the wedding ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of a former Governor of the state and Senator, Ali Modu Sheriff, and his bride, Hadiza Kam Salem.
From Maiduguri, the President will proceed to Bauchi State for a condolence visit following the death of the renowned Islamic scholar and spiritual leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.
Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi passed away on November 27, and President Tinubu’s visit is aimed at commiserating with the Bauchi State Government, the Bauchi Emirate, and the family of the late cleric, who was widely respected for his contributions to Islamic scholarship, peacebuilding, and interfaith harmony in Nigeria.
After concluding his engagements in Bauchi, the President will travel to Lagos State, where he will spend the end-of-year holiday period.
While in Lagos, President Tinubu is expected to participate in several public and private engagements. Notably, he will serve as the Guest of Honour at the historic Eyo Festival scheduled for December 27.
The festival, which will hold at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, is expected to celebrate prominent personalities who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of Lagos State. Among those to be honoured are President Tinubu’s late mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, as well as former Lagos State Governors, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Chief Michael Otedola.
The Eyo Festival is one of Lagos’ most iconic cultural events, symbolising the state’s rich heritage and serving as a platform to honour distinguished individuals and families.
President Tinubu’s three-state visit underscores his administration’s blend of governance, cultural engagement, and personal interactions as the year draws to a close.
