IN a bid to revitalize his administration and strengthen governance, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has reshuffled his cabinet, relieving two commissioners of their duties and appointing their replacements.
The development was announced on Thursday via an official statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, in Maiduguri, made available to News Point Nigeria.
The officials affected by the shake-up include:
Engr. Emet Kois, Commissioner for Environment, and Hon. Tukur Ibrahim Shani, Commissioner for Intergovernmental Affairs and Special Duties.
Governor Zulum expressed his gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their service to the state, while also extending his best wishes for their future endeavors.
To fill the vacant positions, the governor approved the appointment of:
Engr. Mohammed Habib as Commissioner for Environment, and Ibrahim Hala Hassan as Commissioner for Intergovernmental Affairs and Special Duties.
In a related move, Professor Yusuf Gana Balami has been named as the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Secondary Education Board.
Prof. Balami, a renowned academic and specialist in Educational Psychology, hails from Hawul Local Government Area in the southern region of the state.
His career began in the Borno State Ministry of Education (1984–1988) before he joined the University of Maiduguri, where he rose through the ranks to become a professor in 2014.
Balami is widely published, a member of numerous professional associations, and regarded as one of the state’s leading voices in educational development.
Governor Zulum congratulated Prof. Balami on his new appointment and charged him to leverage his vast experience in reshaping the quality and direction of secondary education in Borno State.
According to the statement, all appointments have been formally transmitted to the Borno State House of Assembly for confirmation, in line with statutory procedure.
The latest changes signal a continued commitment by the Zulum administration to strengthen institutional performance and improve service delivery in key sectors of the state.
