THE Borno State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has reaffirmed its loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and endorsed him to run for a second term in 2027, while calling on him to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima, as his running mate.
This declaration was made in a communiqué issued on Sunday following a critical stakeholders meeting held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Government House, Maiduguri.
The communique of the meeting was shared on X on Sunday by the Senior Special Assistant to Borno State Governor on Information, Dogo Shettima.
According to the communique, the high-level gathering brought together key party figures, including the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori; Senate Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Monguno; Senators Ali Ndume, and Kaka Lawan; members of the House of Representatives; former governor Senator Maina Ma’aji Lawan; state lawmakers; ambassadors; commissioners; local government chairmen, and party executives.
The endorsement comes in the wake of recent controversial remarks by Senator Ndume, who criticised President Tinubu’s appointments as nepotistic during a televised interview—a position swiftly rejected by the Presidency.
In a united front, the APC stakeholders expressed “total and unalloyed loyalty” to the Tinubu-led Federal Government and reiterated their full support for the Renewed Hope Agenda.
They also commended Vice President Shettima for his steadfast dedication to national development and his role in promoting the President’s vision.
“The meeting prayed for Mr. President to retain His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima as his Vice President for his second term,” the communiqué read in part.
The forum praised Governor Babagana Zulum for his continued efforts in combating insecurity and rebuilding the state, urging him to stay focused on his transformative agenda.
Reaffirming the state’s strong ties to the ruling party, the communiqué emphasized that Borno remains a bastion of progressive politics, ruling out any plans for political realignment.
“Borno shall remain in APC—no merger or change of political party,” it declared.
The stakeholders also called for unity within the party, urging members to resist internal divisions and stay committed to the values that have guided Borno’s political evolution since independence.
In a development-oriented appeal, the forum urged President Tinubu to intensify oil exploration activities in the North-East, particularly in Kolmani and the Lake Chad region.
They also advocated increased investment in road infrastructure to bolster security and stimulate economic growth.
The meeting concluded with a resolution to strengthen internal democracy and improve party machinery, ensuring the APC’s continued dominance at both the state and national levels.
